Summer Ranger Program Site Improvements at NPS Visitors Center

In the past, we’ve covered ranger programs given in the ranger site areas located behind the Visitors Center. Recent problems with flooding in Ranger Site 1, pictured in the first image, has necessitated some landscaping work. We walked from Lot 2 towards the Ranger Program Site location. This view was taken facing north at approximately 2:00 PM on Monday, June 6, 2011.

One of the more popular ranger programs that takes place for children takes place at Ranger Site 1. This view was taken facing northwest at approximately 2:00 PM on Monday, June 6, 2011.

The landscaping contractors placed a layer of rocks under this mulch before we arrived. This view was facing west at approximately 2:00 PM on Monday, June 6, 2011.

One of the reasons the Rangers didn’t want to move the program site, especially for the kid’s program, is that the program takes place right off the back porch, making it easy for visitors to know that programs are happening.
