This white fence borders the lane that used to lead from the Bryan Farm to the Emmitsburg Road. National Park Service Volunteers finished constructing and painting it Saturday. This view was taken facing east at approximately 5:30 PM on Saturday, June 6, 2009.

In what has become an annual spring event, 250 volunteers from the Friends of the National Parks at Gettysburg donated their time to build fences, and paint fences on the Gettysburg Battlefield. We’ll show you some before and after pictures.

Saturday morning we visited one of the locations for fence construction, the McMillan Orchard area on Seminary Ridge. This view was taken facing southeast at approximately 6:30 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2009.

The National Park Service did a very good job preparing the site by having piles of gravel, and digging holes for the fence posts. This view was taken facing east at approximately 6:30 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2009.
