New Guide Room at the New Visitor Center

The table in the middle of the room once was located in the board room of the old visitor center. A blue cloth made its appearance on top of the table today. Battlefield guides from left to right are Ed Supplee, John Sutton, Dave Hamacher, Chris Rebman, and Charlie Fennell (seated). This view was taken from the southeast facing northwest at approximately 1:45 PM on Saturday, April 19, 2008.

Today was the first weekend for Gettysburg Licensed Battlefield Guides to occupy the new guide room. The room is very sparsely decorated compared to the old room. Most of the library items belonging to the Association of Licensed Battlefield Guides are in storage until a deal can be worked out and/or approval is received for another location with more room. Also in the new visitor center, items cannot be put on the wall without approval of the National Park Service. The good news is that there is more room, and much nicer facilities. What’s this carpet stuff?

Two computers in the guide room allow guides to check in, change availablities, and scan tickets once tours are finished. Larry Wallace, who broke a bus windshield with his head yesterday on a bus tour, is seated at the computer. Ed Supplee is seated at the table. This view was taken from the northeast facing southwest at approximately 1:45 PM on Saturday, April 19, 2008.
