As we mentioned last week, another area in Gettysburg that will be impacted by construction in the coming months is West Middle Street. This construction project, undertaken by PennDOT, is estimated to take months, with some projections estimating the project’s length at six months to a year.

Right now the road is closed from South Washington Street to Baltimore Street. This view was taken facing southwest at approximately 4:00 PM on Friday, March 11, 2011.

At the moment the project is in the pipeline phase, in which sewer and water piping is replaced. The Gettysburg Times reported that this phase of the work could take until June. This view was facing north at approximately 4:00 PM on Friday, March 11, 2011.

… All the way out to Seminary Ridge and the Lutheran Theological Seminary in the very distant background. The road will be reconstructed with a new base and sidewalks and will be sure to cause delays and congestion when summer visitation to Gettysburg begins.
